Charlotte, NC-William Albert Eargle, Sr., 87, passed away Thursday evening, March 27, 2014 at Asbury Care Center.
Born in the Derita area of Mecklenburg County on August 15, 1926, he was a son of the late Minnick Luther Eargle and Blanche Shealy Eargle.
A 1943 graduate of Derita High School, following high school he studied business at Kings College.
Mr. Eargle was a proud member of the US Army serving stateside during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, he worked at Old Dominion Box Company and later retired from Glasgow-Bridges Inc....

Charlotte, NC-William Albert Eargle, Sr., 87, passed away Thursday evening, March 27, 2014 at Asbury Care Center.
Born in the Derita area of Mecklenburg County on August 15, 1926, he was a son of the late Minnick Luther Eargle and Blanche Shealy Eargle.
A 1943 graduate of Derita High School, following high school he studied business at Kings College.
Mr. Eargle was a proud member of the US Army serving stateside during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, he worked at Old Dominion Box Company and later retired from Glasgow-Bridges Inc. after 30 years of service.
He was a lifetime member of Cole Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Bullard Sunday School Class, the tape ministry, served on the official board, the Cub Scout Program and served in the nursery. He also was a member of American Legion Post 1981.
Preceding him in death was his wife of more than 50 years, Marlene Miller Eargle, who died August 31, 2003. The couple married September 6, 1952.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Fowler and husband, David of Mooresville, NC, a son, Billy Eargle and wife, Debbie of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Lauren Shaw and husband, Dusty, Jennifer Bentley and husband, Chase, Jake Fowler and Anna Eargle; one great grandson, Beckett William Shaw; two sisters, Nancy Eargle and Jane E. Chapman both of Charlotte, NC.
Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Carolyn Eargle and Cartha E. Lee and three brothers, M.L. Eargle Jr., Max Eargle and Glenn Eargle.
Private graveside services are planned for Monday, March 31, 2014 at Sharon Memorial Park.
A Celebration of Life Service is planned for 10:00 am Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Cole Memorial United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
